Message: <blockquote data-quote="Gothmog" data-source="post: 1286688" data-attributes="member: 317">Agreed, Dawnforge is excellent- and I don't usually care much for high-fantasy settings.  Its almost to the same pinnacle of perfection as Midnight (which if you haven't got it- RUN and buy it!).  I just got Dawnforge for Christmas, so I am not all the way through it yet, but its got some great aspects and given me tons of scenario ideas.  With this, FFG has proven to me they are the undisputed kings of world-building.That said, of all the other books you listed, I'd definitely shoot for the Unholy Warrior's Handbook first- I use it quite a bit, and it makes for some great villians.  Bow & Blade and Plot & Poison are ok if you use lots of elves, but I'd save my $ for GR's Book of Fiends, due out in January.  Draconomicon and BoED I have found to be very overrated and overpriced, with minimal use factor due to the overly specialized subject matter.  Complete Warrior is ok, I just wish there were fewer prestige classes, and more of the combat styles feats, as well as more options for warriors and war.  Creature Collection 3 is pretty good, but some of the monsters are VERY Scarred lands specific, so if you already have tons of monster books, you could skip it.</blockquote>
