Hey! If you're a player in my group get out! This is stuff you aren't supposed to know! Alright ... I think they're gone. So hi everyone. In two weeks my girlfriend will start her first ever stint of DMing. But this post isn't really about her ... you see after shes done running the module shes chosen, I'll probably take the DM chair to run a d20 Modern game. I've already gotten some ideas on what I want to run ... I'm planning on doing something based on Conspiracy X mixed with some Dawn of the Dead. While I have some general ideas, I'm somewhat shakey on the details. I was hoping some of you guys might be able to help me out with some cool encounters/locations/whatever in order to make my run more interesting. So, in the interest of letting you know where I am currently, this is what I have so far. A resort and spa opens up on a small island in the Pacific. After a series of strange persistant rumors about hauntings on the island, AEGIS, a secret organization that investiages the paranormal dispatches a team there. Taking up residence in an underground abandoned military base, the team's leader finds out a supernatural creature lives on the island and is to blame for the "hauntings". In his study of it, he is corrupted by it (essentially driven insane but granted strong supernatural abilities of his own). Through his own corruption, two of his team members are turned into zombies. The original creature and the two zombies escape. The team leader covers it up from his remaining two team members and seals the base, but not before a distress call is set out to AEGIS. At this point, the players are sent in, to find the missing AEGIS members. The original team leader, fearing discovery of his actions, arranges to have everyone stranded outside of the base. Meanwhile, the two original zombies are wrecking havok at the resort, turning all of the guests and staff into zombies. The only way the players can get off the island is through the resort and the communication equipment is left in the base. Thats about all I have. At this point, it seems like the game would devolve into a constant battle ... something I'm somewhat hesitant to throw at my players. A few twists I've already thought of are ... The original team leader. I've already had one of my players volunteer to play a "plant" an enemy posing as a friend. I think I'll let him play the doctor, who is slowly turning into a monster himself. Zombified wildlife. Maybe a zombie tiger or something ... what kind of animals live on big islands? Zombie intelligence. Most of my zombies I plan on having be pretty much movie zombies. But I think maybe the first two will still be intelligent. They're under control from the island's monster, but they can still think and talk. They'll scream in pain when shot, cry and weep as they feast on their friends, and hopefully be pretty spooky in general. The islands monster. I'm thinking he'll be a powerful spell caster with some good physical stats too. He'll have to have a weakness, but I haven't decided on what. Phew. Sorry for the length of that post. So does anyone have any suggestions on where to go from there? Any revisions you suggest I make? Feel free to change/ignore anything I have if you have a good idea ... I'm looking for something to get my juices flowing. Thanks for any and all help you give me ... you guys are always great helps for things like this. :)
