In the confined spaces of the Underdark swarms are even deadlier than usual. They're almost useless against things with DR but they ignore saves, AC, and SR and are great for clearing masses of enemies. Take the charge-optimizing feats to really take advantage of that 4d6 gore attack. Also, if you go the Large strong guy route, consider investing in grappling. Maybe go Barbarian (bear totem variant from Unearthed Arcana) for free Improved Grapple.
