Hi all, We played the mini adventure in the DMG and liked most of it, and are going to play KotS, but we wanted to see how things work for a high level party and I volunteer to DM some adventures for characters created at lvl 19. The party consist of: Minotaur fighter (kensai) axe & board Eladrin wizard (wizard of the spiral tower) staff specialist Elf cleric (divine oracle) laser build Drow rogue (asssassin) Human ranger (multiclass fighter for kensai) two weapon (longswords) Every one of them comes form a different “world” ... the minotaur comes form dragonlance, the Eladrin and the drow from Forgotten Realms, the elf from Greyhawk and the human from Amnar (our own campaign world). To mix all of them I told them that they all started dead. Thay wake up in a cave, where they dont remember anything form their past lives except his name his abilities and his place of origin (more or less) they dont remember his parents names, or anything like that, but all remember one thing in common, they died at the hands of a death giant. Then a ghostly figure (a representation of the Raven Queen) tolds them taht they had been slain by agents of someone very powerful) and she wants to oppose that someone (this somenone is Orcus, and she doesnt like him very much, but she hasnt told that for now to the players). She has revived all of them but a part of the soul of everyone is still trapped within the death giant, thats why they cant remember his life. So I have them all in a dungeon (i told them that the dungeon is some kind of dimension between the dead and the living, and they have to escape from it), with no memories of his past lifes and with a common objective. I tried to do a little story that can last some adventures and if we like it, we can lvl all our way to 30 to the final battle with Orcus. This “caves” holds very differents inhanbitants, but the path they had chosen has lead them to the “fire” part of the dungeon for now... The first encounter i wanted to be easy on them, so I made them fight Azers... they are lvl 17 monsters (8 minions, 2 beastlords, 1 taskmaster )and were with a firebreed hell hound (lvl 17 too) so they have little trouble with them. The second one i wanted to be a little tougher and pitch them against 2 fire giants (lvl 18) 2 firebreed hell hounds (lvl 17) a rockfire dreadnought (lvl 18) and there were a lvl 18 hazard in the room too, but it was easier than the first one... with fewer opponents, was easy to surround one while the wizard took control of one and the other was blinded by the cleric, the fighter was given resistance from the wizard and all the automatic fire damage was negated making him nearly unstoppable (his AC is 37 so was hard to hit and he has uncanny dodge, so no +2 for having combat advantage when surrouded by enemies) They have not used any of his daily powers (only the wizard has used a daily and it was an utility power)... for the next encounters i wanted to pit them against a Mordent hydra and the last one I wanted to pit them against a blackroot treant with 2 slaughter wights, who gets joined at midfight by one of the death giants who killed one of them, so one of them (at random) will regain his memories, but seeing how well they have done against what I have used before, I dont know if I have to change the creatures or add more to be a challenge, so please, any help or idea ( I can accomadate nearly any creatures you want in this dungeon) to challenge my players
