Help with Midnight gnome channellers spell schools!

Carnifex

First Post
So, tomorrow is the first session of a Midnight campaign I'm playing in, and I've put together my gnome channeller character :) Thing is, I'm now struck with indecision.

Currently, he has access to Universal, Transmutation and Lesser Conjuration schools (couldn't pass up the opportunity for those cure light wounds!). His feat is Combat Casting, since I was wanting to make sure he can get off his spells when it comes down to battle (as it undoubtedly will, even with my char's ridiculous Charisma and social skills). But I'm temtped to drop CC for the feat (can't remember what it's called) that would give me access to another spell school - I'm thinking Illusion will come in useful.

Should I wait until my extra school selection at lvl 4 (I think that's when I get it) to take Illusion? Or is it worth swapping out Combat Casting now for the extra school?

Also, I know that in the back of Minions of Shadow there's the updated spell lschool list for 3.5, and we're using 3.5 for this campaign. Since I was wanting to do some more pre-planning for what spells Iand schools I'll be aiming for as I gain levels, I was wondering if this table of spell schools is available anywhere online as well? (I don't remember seeing it kicking around the FFG sire).

Welcome to the bestest setting ever, Carni.

The feat you're thinking of is, simply, "Spellcasting: (school name)" :)
As to whether you'll want it insead of Combat Casting, well, a gnome channeler has no buisness in melee, except as orc fodder does he? :) Illusion is good, for Silent Image, but so is Enchantment, for Sleep. In my games, I've found that more schools will give you a greater long term benefit.

Have a look HERE for the ToS or HERE for the vanilla spell lists.

Download the Tome of Sorrows. It's got what you're looking for, revised spell-list wise.

Ah excellent! Thank you muchly :)

On a further note, I have another question. I know that legates have their astiraxes, or whatever they'recalled, that can sense spells being cast - but can they sense spell-like abilities granted as a fresult of a heroic path? My gnome has the Seer path and it'd be damned useful to be able to use all those divinatory powers without fear of being hunted down:)
