This is a race I'm working on for my game. I need help determining the ECL for it, because it doesn't look to me like an ECL 0 creature. Thanks in advance.
  • +2 Strength, +4 Constitution, -2 Dexterity, -2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom, -4 Charisma.
  • Large.
  • Maza base speed is 10 feet.
  • Tremorsense: Maza have the ability to sense vibrations in the ground and air around them. This provides them with the ability of Tremorsense, with a range of 300 feet.
  • Scent: A maza body is covered with scent receptors, providing them with the extraordinary ability of Scent.
  • Multiple Limbs: A maza can manifest a number of limbs equal to 1 + Intelligence bonus as a standard action. This limbs are club, or tentacle-like, and can be used as weapons inflicting 1d6 damage each. These limbs are not dexterous enough to wield items like weapons or tools unless the maza has a Dexterity score of 16 or better.
  • Trample: As a standard action, a maza can attempt to move over any creature of Medium-size or less. This inflicts 1d8 damage. A trampled opponenet can attempt either an attack of opportunity, at a –4 attack penalty, or a Reflex save for half damage. The DC for this save is 10 + 1/2 maza HD + maza Strength modifier. A target who fails to save is considered swallowed.
  • Swallow Whole: If a creature is trampled by a maza and fails to save, he is engulfed by the maza. This inflicts 1d8 points of crushing damage per round. In addition to the crushing damage, being engulfed by a maza can cause suffocation. A victim can escape the maza by making a successful opposed grappling check at a –4 penalty.
  • Resistant to Damage: Due to their unusual biology, maza suffer only one-half damage from slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning attacks. Energy attacks inflict normal damage. Fire and cold-based attacks inflict double damage.
  • Automatic Languages: Maza speak their own language, which has no written form.
  • Favored Class: None.

I am just eyeballing it but I would say +2. I think that might be a little low though. If you gave it an extra HD I would vote for a solid +3.

Some other thoughts:

this thing is defineatly an aberation

swallow whole only works on creatures two sizes smaller I think.

THe creature might need the feat multiattack to use it's other arms effictively.

This is going to be an odd PC. If you use it as a monster I think it is a solid CR 1.

I'm thinking I should go ahead and set it up as a monster, and then figure out the PC effects. Abberation for sure. Swallow Whole in the SRD says one size smaller I think, I'll have to double check. I completely forgot about the Multixxx feats, thanks. I'm shooting for an odd PC race:> Thanks for the input, looks about right.
