At my last comic book convention, I got a hand of Tank Vixens #1. It's a very fun and hilarious book with mature content, that plays on some very nifty ideas. One of them being that the Real power of a Military is simply to Intimidate the enemy into submission. Or, to put it in Captain Zeera Gekkados' own words (minus the heavy german accent): "You see, it's not guns and bombs and knives that will win this war... It's Image. The 101st is the forefront of the new age of non-violent combat. Scientific Studies have shown that only a teeny tiny amount of a soldier's time is ever spent in combat. The major function of any soldier is to deter aggression. -- To terrify the enemy! And that's where we come in!" "POSING! Don't you see? That's what soldiering is all about. Ach, back in the old days they stamped around in parades and did lots of shouting at one another. When the system broke down, then a war broke out and everyone got hurt." "Now we know the true science of warfare. Displayed Aggression! Terrify the pants off the other suckers! One Bimbo in a Lycra Body Stocking is worth a whole tank regiment." :Look over there! Captain Hildebrand practices silhouetting herself against the skyline for over two hours everyday! What a Honey! She once terrified a whole enemy tank platoon to death! And she still gets fan maiol from the Survivors! And here... Sergeant Marianne. She can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch! Ten grown men pulled off their own heads rather then face her in combat!" "Ah, but these are all the real pros! You catch on with time. For now, we just start slow. Take anything you want. Don't look at them as weapons! Look on them as Fashion Accessories." ...All the while I read that, I couldn't help but remember that in D&D, Intimidate is a Charisma based skill, so the very shtick that's a big joke in the comic would actually be feasible in a D&D-based setting. Especially with a race that's known for high charisma (or at least a lack of Charisma penalties). ...And the idea of a regiment of beautiful female soldiers posing on the battlefield, basically intimidating their enemies into submission just sounds -so- Elven...
