Here's what bugs me

Now, WotC has pulled all of its PDFs off the internet for a great many number of reasons including, but not limited to; Piracy, sales pitch, bad planning, etc.
That is their right as a company to decide not to sell product. This doesn't bother me.

rpgnow, paizo, whoever else had to pull all their wizards products off their websites with little to no warning provided. This only bothers me a little bit. I've downloaded and made redundant copies of the files I bought, and except for the wizards stuff, still have 4 downloads available for everything. I would LOVE to have the security of having 4 downloads of all my wizards merch just incase 3 computers, an external drive, 2 laptops and an email cache blow up... but hey, theres nothing I can do about it now.

In the end, at least in my mind, what bothers me most is that WotC is willing to do somthing this drastic and sudden to somthing they were making money off of.
People were buying the PDF product.

What does this say about the things that Wizards IS NOT making money off of, like say the GSL? This does bug me... a whole lot

Well, maybe they're preparing to sell the D&D brand. When I first read about this news it was something that sprang to mind as a possibility.

After thinking all night about subjects that are too controversial to discuss, my thoughts keep going back to the GSL as well. Especially the ability of WotC to terminate at will on a whim without warning.

When the GSL was released and people worried about the possibility of the license being terminated with no warning, people said that WotC would never do something so disastrous for PR.

In the end, signing onto the GSL is a matter of trust in the good faith of WotC. I do think that those doing business with WotC via the GSL need to seriously ask themselves what this latest unmentionable action says in regards to the amount of trust WotC as a company can be given to act in good faith.

Edited for the mods.

In the end, buying a PDF and being given the 'right' to download it again later is a matter of trust.

We already have one thread on pdfs closed pending review. Do not get onto the subject of pdfs here, or we'll have to do similarly with this thread. Stick to the question at the end of the OP, please.
