I hit that point at around the 30 minute mark. I couldn't believe it when I saw the time. I will say that I think it picked up a bit in the second half. Still, overall I'm going to have to give this episode a rating of "meh". Angela and Peter's scenes were good, if only because the actors can (mostly) pull off the awful dialogue. Maybe I was just thrilled to see the question of how faith fits into the whole powers thing. However, HRG giving them a pass again was old. Nathan and Claire were... weird. Hayden looked cute with the new cut, but that's really the only thing that stuck in my mind. Otherwise, I just didn't buy into that whole situation. I was at least hoping to see the return of Meredith since they were in Mexico. I'm guessing she's actually dead at this point. No follow through or even mention of Rebel... blah. Sylar and Danko... snooze. I have to tackle them one at a time. Again, I don't care about Danko... hell, the only reason I know his name is from posting on these threads. I don't buy that he's so utterly incapable of hunting down the heroes. I don't buy that they need a "win" - look at all the heroes they've caught so far. I just don't buy into the character at all. My hope is that Sylar, with his newfound ability, kills him and takes over. If this guy was supposed to be the big villain, it's a total failure. I'd have liked this story better if the government group was simply left faceless. Sylar I get being canny, and can buy into him knowing how to hunt people, because that's his ability - intuitive aptitude. I'll even accept Sylar picking up a couple of abilities we don't know about - he was like that in the first season as well. I have a great deal of trepidation about him having the shapeshifting power though. It's a very easy crutch to use to write sloppily, and who could actually trust the Heroes writers to use it well at this point? In the end, as I finish this up, what I think bothered me the most about this episode besides some of the awful dialogue was the awful writing. Characters weren't terribly consistent without a lot of hand-waving, locations didn't make a whole lot of sense outside of the novelty of new sets, and what little plot there was seemed forced. I'm really hoping next week will be better.
