[QUOTE="Man in the Funny Hat, post: 3801226, member: 32740"] I may be off base here as I speculate only on what I've seen on the shows, not online comics, etc. But... 4 months is a long time. All this first episode did for me was START to set the stage. Things HAPPENED during the intervening months. What those things were will no doubt be revealed gradually over the season. Nathan APPEARS to be all over the world, possibly handing out marked photos. But the photos for Mrs. Petrelli and Mr. Nakamura were torn halves of ONE photo. That doesn't quite yet indicate there is someone killing "the nine". It suggests to me that WHERE and WHY that photo of the two of them was taken may be more significant. Also, we can't assume that Nathan is who he appears to be - he (she?!) may be another hero using disguise or illusion abilities posing as Nathan for some reason. Again - too early to tell. There almost aren't enough facts to speculate, but that scene with Nathan looking in the mirror got me thinking that SOMEONE is posing as Nathan or has given Nathan some form of disguise ability. Maybe that's a new power for someone yet unseen - the ability to transfer powers as opposed to having to take them by force, or absorb them uncontrollably. There's also the thing about the election. What DID happen with that? Has Nathan "disappeared" as far as the public knows? Did he just resign or have a public emotional meltdown or what? I have no doubt that there will be a number of flashback episodes filling in the 4 months of time. Matts divorce, for example, might then be much better explained, and that otherwise felt REALLY abrupt. Heck, his wife is/was pregnant, right? That is a non-trivial fact ahm a-thinkin. Matt is taking care of Molly. Did that begin before or after the divorce? Was Molly a factor there, perhaps with Matt insisting on adoption while they had their own baby on the way? WAS she formally adopted by the Parkmans, or were they appointed legal guardians or what? Hiro's situation also has to figure into things in ways we don't yet see any sign of. It HAS to, otherwise his situation is UTTERLY unrelated to everything else happening. Something about "fixing" the Kensai legends has an impact on PRESENT events. It's not JUST making the stories his father told him come true. It's like last season when he went to the future and put together that complicated string-and-clipping timeline in Isaacs loft. He had to figure out the key event/events to influence in order to fix the future - but what about the future is broken as a result of the Kensai situation has not yet been revealed. Perhaps a number of episodes will continue to set up a bad/worsening situation that will be fixed by Hiro changing things in the past. Overall, it struck me as very like the first episode of the first season. It's all introduction of characters and exposition - and that won't be complete until after the second episode. There are still heroes to be re-introduced and have their present situations set up for us - which will of course not make complete sense because of the lack of knowledge of what's happened over the last 4 months. I need to watch this episode again though. I was in a very zombie state when I first watched it because of my work schedule. For example I didn't notice the Hatians necklace on Peter. But that's another thing - what HAPPENED to Peter? Nathan sure seems to think he's dead, so when did he regenerate and how did NATHAN survive?
