Hey Wulf! A Few Grim Tales Questions Please

Hey Wulf,
A few questions, if I could bug you, about Grim Tales.

First. I have been seeing a lot of people saying they are still picking the book up. How are sales doing? (go ahead-pimp the book ;)

Secondly. I noticed that you moved Improved Feint from under Combat Expertise to Brawl. Making an Int13, Brawl and Streetfighting pre-reqs. Could I ask your reasoning? While the high Int and Brawl seem out of place I can see where you were going I think, but it puts Improved Feint quite aways away especially from the other "classic" skilled feats. Just wanted to see why the mechanic put the tools in the position in the toolbox.

Thanks
Fenris

It's doing well. It hasn't sold out yet, though, which would be a fantastic thing for me. So by all means, please recommend the book to your gamin' buddies.

I'm ill-prepared to answer that one (no books on hand) other than to say I'm sure I had a reason. Where's it located in the feat tree for Modern vs. D&D?

That's the way those feats are handled in D20 Modern.

Ok, thanks.

Also, I'm having a little trouble understanding the natural armor table on pg. 171 of the Creature Creation section. Could you clarify that for me?

You're looking at the Design Parameters section.

Generally speaking, all of the Design Parameters through this chapter are intended to show you the normal range of CR factors-- a failsafe, in a way, to keep you from designing creatures outside the "acceptable" bounds of the game. (For example, a 1 HD creature with a 64-die breath weapon.)

On this particular table, you're looking at the acceptable range of natural armor. Based on what the creature looks like, and how big it is, you can eyeball the acceptable amount of natural armor.

Simple put, natural armor costs you 0.1 CR per point.

Let's say you're building an 8HD living Trojan Horse. How much natural armor should it have?

It's a construct, made out of wood, so you start at material hardness (5, for wood) + HD. Base so far, 13.

But it's gargantuan, so that's good for another +9. (Note that, when you pay for Size, you've probably already paid for this natural armor bonus, so don't pay for it twice!)

If this final creature had a Natural Armor bonus somewhere in the +22 range, that would fall within the design parameters.

Thanks Wulf! Now to track down why they did it in Modern..... :)

Wulf are you still collecting typographical errata for Grim Tales?
