High def Lord of the Rings?

Any word on a release date for a high-def Lord of the Rings dvd, either HD or Blu-Ray?

Not that I've heard, but that's the one thing that would push me to seriously consider upgrading my TV. For the moment, though, good ol' paid-for CRT TV for me!

Given the developments in the past week over HD-DVD (Warner gone - Universal is bailing too == adios HD-DVD), I would expect a Blu-Ray version of LotR by Xmas 2009.

Doubtless that version will promise some canned hype and preview of The Hobbit. It'll be stupid crazy and people will eat it up with a fork and knife.
