Highlander Endgame

Quick question: how do you "There can be only one!" purists deal with the existance of the TV show? It would be a shame if you ignore it completely, because Duncan rocks.

To me it looked like the TV series took place before the final gathering. I always though that one day Duncan was gonna get it, and Conner would then go on and take the prize. I thought the movies beside the first were rubbish. Especially two. Three was ok, but I hated the non-continuity. Four was complete rubbish. I liked the series, and the sword fights. The story, etc. But as I said during the whole time I watched it, I always had in my head it would not be Duncan who won, but Conner.

Hey, I actually *liked* 2. Not as a part of the Highlander universe, but as a sci-fi movie in its own right. Of course, they never should have made 3 or 4, and the Raven series--what were they thinking? Amanda Gracen is just not good enough to do it by herself. As for the continuity issues, I always thought of the films and the series as separate. Yeah, sure, gratuitous Connor in the first ep, but that wasn't necessary. The best of ALL Highlander was the fourth season of the show.

Sorry for incoherence. I'm exhausted and in a rush to get to work. Cheers!

Certainly better than that last season, which seemed less like a season of Highlander, and more like a casting call for the female lead in the follow-up series. Pretty much every episode was just MacLeod with a female immortal, and one ep didn't even have MacLeod at all! It was Claudia Christian all to herself, with MacLeod, Dawson, Methos, or Amanda (All of whom were in the opening credits as cast members) not even appearing for two seconds. Methos, Dawson, and Amanda barely even showed up that season. Elizabeth Gracen was credited as a cast member in the opening credits for the entire season, yet she didn't even show her face til the series finale. What a crappy way to close out a series.

Anyway, the first movie in the series has been retconned to Connor having fought Kurgan and killing him, but it was just another battle in the Game. Connor didn't win the prize. In the series, it's mentioned that Kurgan's dead and Duncan says something about how he's glad that he never ran into that monster.

And yes, showing flashbacks to a scene which we saw only 15 minutes ago was incredibly annoying. All around, they did a terrible job on this movie. The only ones there who seemed to have put any effort into their jobs were Adrian Paul and the actress who played Kate, along with the actors playing Dawson and Methos in their brief appearances. Everybody else, from the writers, to the director, editors, etc just sleepwalked right through the whole thing.

You're kidding, right?

From the 'we built a shield to block out the sun' plot to the incredibly fragile 'immortals' (who can get decapitated by an inch-thick steel cable while flying around at walking speed)...it was just...

AGH!

You've made me remember more of it than I ever wanted to!

:D Okay, so maybe it wasn't THAT good . . . it's been a while since I've seen it. But I seem to recall at least appreciating it . . .

On a side note, Methos was the saving grace of the series, I think. Not only is he the most attractive of the characters, he also was incredibly intriguing. I have a feeling the show would have died quickly had he not appeared. But then again, I might be biased, since I do find him so attractive. ;)

While I don't think the show NEEDED a saving grace, Methos was definitely one of the best parts. I loved that bit when he tried to get on Jeopardy, but got beat out in the preliminaries with a question about Chubby Checker (He didn't know who Chubby Checker was, and neither do I), and he was b****ing about it to MacLeod, afterwards. :D

That show had a lot of great supporting characters, though. Amanda was always fun. So was Fitz (His appearances were ALWAYS a riot!). Great show, all around. It deserved a better final season and a better movie then what it got. :/

I didn't see that, unfortunately. I missed maybe half the episodes of the series, because local syndication was always kind of unreliable. That must have been a fun episode. Methos was always one of the better characters.

Yeah, they were really fun. It was a shame Fitz got killed. It was always fun seeing him get into trouble with Duncan. Same with Amanda. Duncan kept trying to reform her, but never had much success.
