Message: <blockquote data-quote="Zinovia" data-source="post: 4118795" data-attributes="member: 57373">Dark clouds gathered in the heavens, blotting out the light of the sun.  Which was just as well, for those witnessing the unfolding events were unaccustomed to the piercing light of that fiery orb, having spent most of their existence huddled before glowing screens in dimly lit, windowless cubes .  Accompanied by a deafening crack of thunder, a sudden bolt of lightning split the skies, revealing the mighty forces assembling on the field of battle.  Several of those gathered looked upwards anxiously, as though fearing that the very sky was about to fall upon them.  For many years the WotCerians had the advantage of numbers on their side.  Spreading their influence from their fog-enshrouded homeland to all parts of the world, an entire generation had grown up knowing only their rule(s).  Accustomed to leading the way, the WotCerians announced a bold new initiative.  There was to be a radical change in policy, a glasnost.  While some leapt eagerly onto the colorful bandwagon as it paraded past, others of their followers were reluctant to accept this move.  Some cried out that it was too abrupt and that the current policies served them well enough, and needed only minor tweaking.  Many others sat upon a nearby fence, waiting to see how events unfolded.  Everyone agreed that there should have been music, but couldn't find any bards or people with Perform: Instrument skill.  When the WotCerians first emerged from obscurity, they had recruited many allies to their side with a free trade agreement known as the OGL.  This ensured profit for all of those who swore allegiance to the mighty D20, symbol of the WotCerian empire.  Visions of years of cooperative ventures and mutual assistance pacts pleased everyone.  Over time however, the allies had branched off, many pursuing their own interests and diverging from WotCerian rule(s).  A new tool was designed to draw their allies back into the fold, but there was a delay in production.  As the days passed the WotCerian leaders grew increasingly anxious as they awaited the delivery of the new GSL2008, wondering if they should have sprung for overnight shipping.  Now the horns of battle have been blown, summoning the armies to the field.  The sky darkens as mighty forces gather.  The Paizonians have boldly declared to all that they will no longer follow the way of the WotCerians, and will instead seek to find their own path.  The Necromancers immediately threw their support in with WotCeria.  Although there have been rumors about a secret agreement between the Paizonians and the Necromancers, with some claiming that both sides wish to have their cake and eat it too.  WotCerian leaders were recently spied eating a very fancy cake in celebration, but that's beside the point.  Meanwhile the White Wolves and Green Ronins have been milling about, mostly doing their own thing, but without yet fully committing to either side in this epic conflict.  The zeitgeist of the new age is appearing, but none yet can see the form it will take - although there is some indication that it will be a square.  With bewbs.</blockquote>
