On the (very) bright side, there is enough 3.x material out there to keep people playing for many, many years. So at least it won't be keeping anyone from playing.3.x killed my DnD game, though. My players were enthusiastic but quickly got tired of it by the time they reached level 14 or so. The system had many, many good points but it sucked the life away from my group. We moved on, sampled other systems, settled on a modified d20 Modern game for a while ... and then stopped. With 4E everyone is very excited. I didn't know a new version was on the way buy my players called me to let me know and it sounds great to me so far. Streamlined less-bulky rules with a combat system that proves to be the most entertaining yet. Lots of good things. I don't like the miniatures, but it seems that using them is optional so that's fine.So, I feel bad for those who aren't liking the new game but I can't stop being ecstatic that I'll be able to game again.
