Hey... I'm going to be running a two session short campaign in about a month, and I'm looking for ideas for my planned baddies. The new session is taking place in a realm called Taisho, modeled after medieval Japan. The major baddie in this will be either the Shogun of Taisho or one of the lower daimyos (military lords). My campaign idea right now involves him working on becoming a lich, and the party stopping his plots. I'm using only some items from the Oriental Adventures book, namely weapons, and the hengeyokai races. The prospective players include quite a few newbies to the game (6 potential players, one vet, two people that've played once, and three newbies), so I'm trying to restrict actual classes and prestige classes to those in the PhB, DMG and the official splat books (Tome and Blood, Sword and Fist, Song and Silence, Masters of the Wild). I know there will be multiple PhB and DMG copies to hand around, and after the character is made, I shouldn't need the splats. Also, my spreadsheet program for creating the characters doesn't have the OA prestige classes (yeah, I'm a lazy bum. :) ) I've constructed a slew of possible characters for the players to choose from, all 10th level... 8-9 regular class levels and 1-2 levels in a prestige class for coolness factor. The players that have played before seem to like roleplaying alot, so if possible, I'd like some elements of that thrown into the BBEG design, so its more than just fight and kill him. The party will be balanced, as if all the players pick from a few classes, I'll have some non-speaking NPCs to fill the major gaps. I'm also looking for ideas for the climatic showdown. I'm aiming for a place that is both cool and unusual, but also rather easy to map out and govern on a battleboard (for the sake of the new players, again).
