Holy Liberator's Celestial Companion

Bad Paper

First Post
The Holy Liberator gets a celestial animal as a class feature. It gains hit dice according to HL class level.

The Celestial template says "Do not recalculate the creature's Hit Dice, base attack bonus, saves, or skill points if its type changes."

But, uh, it's getting more Hit Dice as the HL levels up. Even though it's a Magical Beast, am I supposed to keep giving it d8 HD and 3/4 BAB?

Also, it gets Improved Speed (Ex). Does the speed bonus mean for all forms of locomotion, or just the fast one? The creature in question is a hawk.

1 - Yes, it still gets skill points, HD and BAB like an animal, even though it's type is now magical beast.

2 - The ability description (taking straight from the Paladin special mount sidebar says "speed increases by 10 ft.". So, until further clarification, it applies to all modes of movement.

IIRC it's intentionally vague so it can apply to more than just walking. Otherwise, it would be pretty useless for hawks and such.

The speed bonus would be for all listed speeds.
