Home variations on DL novel storyline?

CruelSummerLord

First Post
As I've said before, I absolutely love the DL modules, but was rather disappointed with the Weis and Hickman novelization of the story in the Chronicles trilogy.

Of course, both the original modules and the excellent new version being published now offer alternate outcomes. When your gaming group played through the modules, did the storyline turn out differently at all? What changed?

-Did Verminaard have his final battle in Thorbardin rather than Pax Tharkas?

-Did Sturm sacrifice himself by repelling the Queen of Darkness in Neraka, rather than dying at the High Clerist's Tower?

-Did Raistlin not turn to evil?

-Did the Heroes travel to Sanction and disrupt the production of draconians?

How did your story differ from the official one?

Post it here.

My characters were a Seeker,

The good dragons were almost universally slain, Porthias became the Green Dragon Lord in a truce with the dragon highlords.

This was based on a little blurb in one of the products that indicated that before they were corrupted there were Iron, Tin, etc. dragons that became

My Companions included a kender who became the sole cleric of Mishakal and a Seeker who became the sole cleric of Zivilyn. Another player played Berem the Green Gemstone man - this was a player with a knack for getting himself killed, and he didn't object after the first time I brought him back. The last PC was Lord Soth who entered a pact and was revived as a human to try to save the world (this wasn't revealed until very late).

Fistandantilus had no connection to the present world, so there wasn't a Raistlin, but he did have a neat plan to kill off Tiamat, which became the basis for the rest of the campaign. The endgame in Neraka resulted in the evil dragons reverting to their original forms and being freed from Tiamat's will (there was a blurb in one product that said that before being corrupted by Tiamat, the Red Dragon was the Iron dragon, the Green was a Copper dragon, and so on, so I ran with that).

All in all, a highly satisfying game.
