This might not be in the right place. If it isn't, then please move it to where it should be. I will begin by saying that this is the first of many possible threads detailing my world, depending upon what the responses I get are like. I shall introduce my world, by giving a bit of the situation between the Forces. --- In the world of Adnez, there are three Forces - Magic, Psionics, and Technology. Magic, and psionics, and technology, are all very different, very powerful forces. They influence this world more than in any other, because they are greater purposes than good or evil, law or chaos. They are what make the cosmos go 'round. The phenomenon of the ethereal plane is not inherently magical in nature. The ethereal and the astral are unique in that they make use of all three forces - magic, psionics, technology - and that they are "neutral grounds" for the three. Magic - ignores physical law to achieve its ends; psionics - finds loopholes in physical law to achieve its ends; technology - utilizes physical law to achieve its ends. Magic is very powerful, but very personal. Magic bends the rules of the universe, or just ignores them completely. Magic only encompasses arcane magic - divine magic is another category and is above and beyond the standard forces. Magic is often the fastest way to power, but is also the most dangerous and difficult to learn. Psionics is the moderate between magic and technology. While it doesn't outright break the rules, it doesn't follow them, either. Psionics finds loopholes, and this is also why psionics is the one force that gives no outward sign of being used. Psionics is also more natural than magic, being a hereditary gift of very unique genetics, but is still considered unnatural seeing as how the genes were modified by Illithids centuries ago. Technology is supposedly the weakest of the three forces, though this is known not to be true. At higher levels, a technologist has much more power than a wizard of equal level, although his versatility may be limited when compared to magic-users. Technology is the hardest force to get results from, but is between magic and psionics for difficulty to learn. There are also some who are aware of a fourth force, known as time - the only practitioners of such are templars, and they are very reclusive and found exclusively on one island. They do not interfere with the world's affairs unless a disaster will occur if the current course persists, at which point they take action. Of course, none are ever aware that they do, as they erase their passing with their unusual powers. Time easily overpowers any and all of the other three forces, but is extremely limited in usefulness. Often, a templar will also be a caster, manifester, or student. Each force has evolved to be the dominant force in some part of the world. Few regions, however, are dominated by one force, and each one has fluctuating areas of strength and weakness for each force. --- That's all I will post for now, until I get some feedback. Why do you think? If you have any questions, I will try to answer them.
