Honor Rewards for D&D Game Play The general idea behind this was brought about by playing World of Warcraft, in which players work for certain factions to obtain rewards that grant really good bonuses. However to obtain these rewards requires a lot of work towards helping the group that grants the reward. To model that in D&D may require some work on the GM’s part, tracking enemies killed and informing the players that they need to retain proof of deeds completed to obtain higher rewards from the hiring Faction. Some explanations: Faction – Groups that desire assistance in completing/furthering their goals are factions. There can be a few or many of these groups. Hated – The lowest possible Faction rating, the Faction would not deal with you if you were gold plated. They will kill you on sight. Distrusted – The second possible low Faction ratings, the faction does not trust you in any way or form. You would need to seriously prove yourself before they would move you up a level in trust. They will attack you on sight. Dishonored – The best tier of low Faction rating. You are not too far from Neutral to the faction. They will still look for reasons to attack you, but you might be able to talk to a few that are on the outskirts of the community. Neutral – The Faction is not sure how to take you. They may offer you some opportunities to prove yourself to them. Most factions start newcomers at this level. Friendly – You have proven to the Faction that you are willing to work towards their goals. They will have a few rewards that you can use that will help you to continue to forward the goals. Most of the rewards will be aimed at the goals specifically and may not be of much general use. Honored – You are more trusted than a Friendly person is. The rewards are better and the requests are a bit harder. The rewards are also more general in nature and are aimed at helping you as much as helping the Faction. Revered – You are one of the trusted few who know the true plans of the Faction. Few ever get this level of respect and the rewards are outstanding. Symbol – Factions will desire/require that you wear a symbol which shows that you are working towards their end. Sometimes this Symbol will grant bonuses towards the goal.
