Hotmail - bigger account

For those who have hotmail accounts, have any of you noticed that they now have 250 megs of storage (instead of 2)?

I have 4 hotmail adresses, and for one of them, for no reason, I now have much more storage space.

Microsoft are doing this to remain competitive with Google's GMail and Yahoo, so far my hotmail account has not been upgraded, but I'm not sure what order they are doing things in (I presume age of the active accounts).

I've had a Hotmail account I've used since they went "live" with it. I only got my upgrade 2 weeks ago. My wife's was much newer, and she got hers way before me. Be patient...they will all be upgraded soon!

250 megs? Wow... that is nice... Of course, I don't get HUGE e-mails, so I am not needing THAT much space... but still, it is nice to know you have it when you need it.

I've had my hotmail account for years, and haven't received the upgrade yet. I've been disappointed with Hotmail for a long time now, and I'm transfering everything off of it to Gmail. Much better service all around than Microsoft has ever had with Hotmail, and Gmail is still only in Beta. Once it goes fully live, I'm giving Hotmail the boot once and for all.

One thing I like about these bigger accounts is the fact that you may now have bigger attachments, and thus can use hotmail and gmail (and yahoo, as it seems) as a ftp site of some sort...

One other thing I like best about hotmail (vs. gmail, but it may change in the future) is that my hotmail account seems much more... instantaneous... ie once something is sent at a hotmail address, a few seconds later it's in your inbox...

perhaps they're doing the upgrade alphabetically? my account that was upgraded started with a "b" (while the others start with "m" and "v")

I had intented to abandon hotmail for gmail. Hotmail suddenly decided to display my messages in the opposite order they are received, thus I read the last message in a conversation first. I know how I fixed this in the past but now that no longer works. I complained and actually got a tech support email back but it was telling me nothing new.

So I forwarded myself an gmail invitation, as I've got 1 extra laying around. I signed up with the same address as hotmail...or so I thought. Turns out gmail has a minimum character length of 6, thus I can't get wycen@gmail unless I figure out how to make it cool or something.

I could care less if they give me free lifetime unlimited storage if I can't display it the way I want to.

I can't get my hotmail addie on gmail. I've had that email addie since 1996, but it was already taken on gmail when I got my invite. Dang it. I've begun to transition all my personal emails to gmail, but for any site that asks for an email address to register for something or another, I still use hotmail. That way, less spam in my gmail.

I abandoned my hotmail account to SPAM a LOOONG time ago. :)

www.ureach.com was the one I went to, and it's actually pretty good, but I have a gmail account now (thanks to CL!). I have some invites, too, if anyone is interested.

The clunkiness of hotmail, as well as the limited storage space, caused me to switch to gmail recently (thanks Ankh-Morpork Guard!). I've now relegated my hotmail account to spam. If I had any Gmail invites, I'd share them...but I don't.
