The Book of Exalted Deeds has a feat - called, imaginatively enough, Celestial Familiar - which allows you to have a lantern archon as a familiar.

It also containts rules for "exalted cohorts", allowing a character with the Leadership feat to have a hound archon as a cohort of 11th equivalent level.

ummm a Hound Archon is a sentient Celestial being, not a celestial animal. How can you have that as a familiar? It would be like having an Elf or Dwarf as a familiar. I could see one as a servant, ally or party member, but not a familiar.

Also, the thaumaturgist prc 5th level ability "planar cohort" essentially gives you leadership and allows you have an equivalent ecl celestial (or any extraplanar being you can call with summon planar ally).

BoED has information about having a hound archon as a cohort. Further more, anyone with access to the Sanctified spells (which usually excludes sorcs) can cast "Cry of Ysgard" which gives you 2d4 (but max 4 -- the spell is very confusing) bariour rangers to serve you for a year. They are similar in scope and power to a hound archon.

That said, the only other thing you can do is get a latern archon as a familiar. A hound archon seems unlikely, though it might make sense for a Huge (in size and power) caster, but I'd call that grasping....
