Hi guys! I'm looking for any roleplayers interested in giving 4th edition D&D a shot. The game will begin in the herioc tier at 1st level and center around a large human village that was recently taken over by a mercenary captain and his band of freebooters. The village is isolated from most of the campaign world, being situated in a fertile valley cradled by a cold mountain range. Approaches to the village are hampered by dense forest and Orc infested ruins, leaving no safe way in or out. Once a month tight-lipped Dwarves come forth from their hidden mountain passes to trade with the villagers and the new lord, but other than the business-like cordiality of these stoic traders the people of the village find themselves cut off from friendly contacts. There is one well-worn forest trademan's path that leads out of the village, but it is currently under a blockade from the elves of the forest that the trail cuts through. The elves claim an ancient pact between themselves and the men of the area was broken. Resisting any attempts to discuss the matter further, the elves turn aside all travelers with the threat of arrow and sword. The people grow increasingly worried as their trade-route remains cut-off while the new lord continues to stockpile dwarven-made weapons as he prepares to deal with the problem... I imagine the game to have a fair amount of political intrigue, centering around goodly rebels trying to overthrow evil tyrants, with a fair amount of exploration and combat. While tightly packed, all the local cultures of the area bare plenty of secrets, and unraveling the mysterious and fostering alliances could take up a good chunk of gameplay. I know in some people's experience 4th edition seems more combat-oriented. Personally I plan of fostering more roleplay in this game, and while I don't expect to have a group of method-actors I will say if you are only interested in hack-and-slash this game might not be for you. I expect to create a few houserules to foster better roleplay, though I plan to keep any changes simple and largely on my side of the screen - I don't want the players to have to contend with a volume of houserules. In truth, I mainly think it comes down to attitude, so I'm hoping to find some like-minded gamers to get a good game going. I expect the game to be every-other Saturday, starting in the early afternoon and going on into the night. Currently I have 2 players, with a likely third, and I am looking to have around five players total. So if your interested leave a message, or contact me at either imperialparadox at aim dot com or imperialpardox on AIM. -Alternatively, if anyone has any similar 4th ed games running in need of a few players, that will work too. :)
