There is definitely one similarity between Essentials and 3.5 - they both presented new core rulebooks. But Essentials went out its way to not replace the previous classes, just add to them. 3.5 did put in full replacement of the classes. There is no reason whatsoever to not play a 3.5 class over a 3.0 class, all classes received improvements and revisions that made the 3.0 version obsolete.</blockquote>
