Honestly, if the 2024 books were reprinted with new art and a bit of errata, I would have skipped them. My current books are fine. If they had just done Tasha level edits (floating ASI, add in the optional features, touch up monster math) I'd have waited till they went on sale and got them. Honestly, the 2024 phb is not that far removed from this, but the idea being a lower effort version of that. If they opted for a radical reinvention, I probably would have used that to get off the train. I own a dozen different styles of D&D at this point (between editions and 3pp) and I don't see the value of starting again with an incompatible edition. The 2024 books are just enough changes to warrant my interest without making me feel I'm starting over. Honestly, it might just be a tad over, but not enough to break the deal. But the two things I absolutely would have skipped was the 2014 with a different cover and 6e.
