Ok, I was thinking… Superman can do all sorts of super-human things, but how the heck did he manage to GET A JOB at the Daily Planet?? I just went through the hiring process at a new company, and the HR woman grilled me for over half an hour about my previous employers and what I’ve been doing for the past 10 years. She wanted to know all kinds of details about my work experience, my education, and any gaps in my employment…. So how did Clark Kent answer these questions when he applied at the Daily Planet?? Remember, he can’t lie…. Did he say he had a degree from UFS (the University of the Fortress of Solitude)? Did he say he had been “camping” at the North Pole for 10 years? Did he tell them about all the alien knowledge he had learned from the stored records of Krypton? When they asked “Why do you want to be a reporter?” What did he say? Did they really hire someone who hadn’t ever had a real job before? Someone who hadn’t been to college? Someone who apparently doesn’t know anything about journalism?? The only thing I can think is that in today’s world, you pretty much have to have a degree in journalism to be a reporter, but back in the early 20th century that wasn’t the case. Perhaps, there is also the fact that in the early 20th century, they didn’t do background checks, and contact your previous employers and such… but it still seems like a major plot hole to me. It should be noted that in contrast, Spiderman (Peter Parker) is in college and finds work as a freelance photo-journalist, which is much more believable. But Kent gets a desk and a steady paycheck, with no credentials at all… WTF?? What do you think?
