Originally posted by EnderXenocide0: Keith commented on this in a thread over at ENWorld. The Quorforged were never intelligent. The current, sentient Warforged are something wholly different from the ancient designs used by the Quori of the previous age. The Quori wanted to escape destruction at the turning of the age, and so they built Quorforged bodies and Docents in which they would store their spirits. These docents would be loaded into the Quorforged, and, presumably, the Quori would be able to control the Quorforged (which begs the question... could a Docent like Shira attempt to control a PC Warforged that attached the Docent?). In doing this, they would no longer be Quori and would be something different--something that would be consumed and reborn come Quor Tarai. The Kalashtar, on the other hand, are not controlled by the Quori in any manner. The Quori don't let the Kalashtar make decisions, they simply have no say in the matter. There are only 66 rebel quori in existence, but there are many more Kalashtar. The soul of each Kalashtar touches the spirit of one of the rebel Quori, gaining insight from this bond. They may share memories and the Quori's personality may affect the Kalashtar's instinct, but the Quori has no say in what the Kalashtar thinks or does. The rebel Quori no longer have a physical presence. Instead, they exist within the collective subconscious of their Kalashtar descendants. It could be said that the rebel Quori act as the "nature" part of "nature vs. nurture" in a Kalashtar's life. Now, The Inspired, on the other hand, are vessels that have willingly allowed their bodies to be possessed by Quori spirits that directly control the host body.
