How different are Fighters from common soldiers/warriors?

There's a hilarious typo in the 2E <em>Monstrous Compendium Volume One</em> ('Men' entry) which lists human soldiers <strong><em>as having 1 hp each</em></strong>.</p><p></p><p>At least, I assume it's a typo.
