Human seems like an appropriate race for Zulu's father and Zulu. It would explain his father's ambition in revolutionizing how the Tribe fought, and his corruptibility when a lifestyle of decadence and greed presented itself. I would make Zulu as a Lawful good character. He stands for order and justice (bordering on vengeance). He will do anything to bring the corrupted society (clan) to justice. He should be a warlord but take multi-class feats as a paladin. For a deity I would choose Moradin, since Zulu is demonstrating loyalty to his clan (in trying to end the corruption and avenge his mother) and trying to leave a lasting mark on the world (by restoring his clan to its former glory). Moradin is also a warrior god. Kord could also be a possible choice since he enourages the use of strength, but not for wanton destruction, and demands that his followers oppose cowardice such as that of Zulu's father. His feat at level one is Soldier of the faith because he is training himself as a holy warrior. A good human bonus feat is action surge, because when Zulu calls upon his tribal instincts or vengeful fury he is difficult to stop. You could also consider improved initiative to represent tactical skills inherited from his father. Your skills should be Athletics and Endurance (to represent his harsh tribal upbringing). Also get knowledge history from the paladin class list since you have the multiclass feat, to represent the stories Zulu heard from the tribe's elders while he grew up. As your human bonus feat take diplomacy, from the paladin class list, since Zulu strives to end the bloody methods that his tribe employs to end confrontation. Zulu does not have streetwise because he grew up mostly in the wild, and when he moved to the city it was a decadent lifestyle spent mostly indoors. You are going to be a tactical warlord since you inherited your keen tactical mind from your father. Your actions in battle are very similar to his, and this scares you, for you see a bit of the terrible beast within yourself. You try to conduct battles less bloodily, and take prisinors, when the enemy is being manipulated by corruption. You show no mercy when the enemy is truly guilty and deserves retribution. As you level you will take paladin power swap feats. Focus on powers tha are associated with revenge and judgement such as radiant smite and on pain of death. Obviously Zulu is going to deal with moral dilemma's, especially as a paladin. When he defeats a truly corrupt figure in combat does he finish them himself, or turn them over to the law, even if he risks them escaping judgment by a corrupt system. This character has a compelling background and looks fun to play.
