How do I turn off automatic notifications?

It seems that I am getting automatically subscribed to all threads that I post in or create now. How do I turn this off and set the default to not subscribe so that I don't have to manually unsubscribe to every thread? I checked out the settings and didn't see any option that seemed to fit.

Click Setting

On the left Nav bar, find My Account section and click on Settings. That'll bring up a screen. Find the Messaging anf Notification section and there is a selection box to control default subscription mode.

Though if you want to control receiving email about replies, mentions, etc. that's in a different place.

Let Nav Bar-->User Tagging-->Settings.
