How far ae you willing to go?

I was just wondering how far some of you do travel or would travel for a regular weekly game. Our group has been traveling on avarge of 40 mnutes to get to our DM's place. The problem being we're soon to be very low on players, in an area were gamers are hard to find. Myself and one of my friends were considering going as far as Boston to find a game, which would be about an hour each way. Or perhaps if we're lucky find someoen willing to switch off and play here everyother weekend, there by splitting up the long drives.

Anyway how far do you guys go?

For sessions with my regular gaming group, I don't have to go any further than my living room. However I have occasionally played in games in which I had to drive 45 minutes to an hour Brighton to Bellingham, Braintree to Revere (in heavy traffic).

Well, it really depends on how far my parents are willing to drive, as it's double for them it's always tricky to ask for a 30 minute or 45 minute drive unless I'm not too far out of their way.

i've driven 1.5hrs one way to game, which was about 70miles. 140miles roundtrip

currently i'm driving about 35-40minutes ~30miles. 60miles roundtrip

edit: that excludes Gen Con of course. i drove 1168miles in 21hrs roundtrip. and none of the DMs for my sessions showed.:(

I play in three campaigns, all in north western Sydney, Australia. Living in south western Sydney, the various locations are c.45min, c.50min and c.60min away (although I cut up to 10 minutes off these journeys when I drive back at 2 in the morning :D )

It takes me around an hour total to get to my sunday game, but then we play for something between 4 and 7 hours each time, so I think it's worth it.

I don't drive, BTW, I use public transport and my own feet. :)

My current game is a 1.5 hour commute, mostly on the train into Boston. Tonight will only be our second session, but I did not find it that bad the first time. Since the game is not weekly it helps alleviate the stress of trying to commute every week. Depending on the commute you choose it may be better to space out the sessions.

I was at one point in a game that met in Boston every week, and I drove in. I would not recommend that approach. Horrible Horrible traffic.

If I am thinking of the correct Wareham MA, you could try New Bedford, that's not that far... I though I saw something on the boards about a Falmouth game as well.
And I'm not all that far up 495...

Three and a half hour round trip on public transport every week.

I don't do it anymore, but did for the space of about two years.

If I'm gaming up at school, there's barely a commute involved. However, I run a monthly game with friends at home. I travel about 240 miles (round trip) to run that monthly game at home. They all live down here, and I'm in State College. Yeah, I'm the DM. But it's just mindless and cruel to make 4 people travel that distance simply because I don't want to. They're the best group I've EVER played with, hands down. I'll suck it up and drive the 4 hour round trip once a month. :)
