Interesting idea Dagger I always wondered why the Shades tried to melt the Glaciers in the Return of the Arch Wizards trilogy instead of just opening a portal to the Elemental plane of Water As for my own FR campaign Ive made 2 relatively minor changes 1) NO firearms 2) When the gods returned to planes at the end of the Time of Troubles he placed certain restrictions on them making it so they where only allowed to act within their own Portfolios he also wacked the same restriction on the Chosen. Chosen can only act in ways that help their deities portfolios. For example Elminster is the chosen of Mystra. Mystra is the goddess of Magic not the Goddess of Freedom, Justice and Equality for all. So Elminster may not run around over throwing Tyrants, freeing slaves and liberating the masses if he does AO can strip him of his "chosenhood" for interfering outside his gods portfolio. Several Chosen have found ways of circumventing AOs rule by using proxys Blackstaff has his Moonstars Elminster and Storm have the Harpers and the Knights of Myth Drannor Alustrial has the army and resources of the Silver Marches The Simbul has the army and resource of Aglarond All of cause also use the Humble Adventuring party to meet the objectives This addresses the "Why doesnt Elminster deal with this problem?" question
