My first marriage lasted 3 years, 7 months, 2 days. It ended with the death of my wife. We dated for 4 years before getting married.

I remarried in February of this year, so that's the date I used for the poll.

This poll needs a "happily, mercifully divorced" option. B-)

That's almost correct for me, too. Coming up for a year since I left, and whilst some days are hard and I miss the companionship, I am absolutely sure it was the right decision.

But huge congrats to all those that have stuck with it! I know you must have had hard times and worked through them, and I wish you many, many more happy years.

Long story short, my wife and I were high-school sweethearts. We split up when I went away to college rather than pursue a long-distance relationship, but we reunited afterward and have been together ever since. Our 14th wedding anniversary was earlier this year (and that's where I placed my vote), but the relationship spans 22 years of ups and downs. (In the balance, I would have to say more ups than downs.)

This year my wife and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. She's my first wife, although I'm her second husband.

We're a bit of an oddity, as she's almost 16 years older than I am, but we've made it through together this long and are still going strong. We've got two adult sons, and she has two even older adult daughters from her first marriage. (And as a result, I not only have five (step)grandchildren - the oldest of whom will be 21 this year - but I was officially a (step)grandpa at age 25!)
