How long the rumor has been perpetuated

I was just listening to episode 2 of the now-defunct RPGRadio podcast, as it's been sitting in my iTunes library forever and I figured it was time to give it a listen. One of the main topics?

"We're going to talk about the future of d20, as there are rumors that a new 4th edition of D&D is on the horizon."

The episode is from November of 2005. :)

people have been talking 4e longer then that
I know. It just struck me as funny, as they're dealing with it like it's hot, relevant news... and it still hasn't happened. :)

Funny aside: Robert J. Schwalb from GR is talking about how Advanced Race Codex is coming out next month (12/2005). :)

5th Edition

Well, I heard from a source deep inside WOTC, who once worked there, but got fired...well, his friend's brother did anyhoo, and said that they already had a working beta of 5th edition...see they know that no one will buy 4th edition, so they will make it suck, and then follow up with the really cool 5th cool edition which will sell billions! (basically a revised 3.75 version). :-)

"We're going to just nerf the whole edition."

You heard it here first, folks.

yeah, practically from the release of 3rd ed, maybe even before. ;)

Nah at least since 3.5 came around.

Whiz,

Agreed. I so wanted to see that book and Advanced Master Class book from Green Ronin.

Too bad they're probably pipe dreams now.
