I am very unimpressed with some elements and more impressed with others). Let's say we ran 5E for three years, so 72x3 + 180 = $396.That's only a little more than three years of DDI. Similar enough? I agree.However let's say we get what, 6 more $30 books "required" (not really required, I agree, but by my group, yeah yeah insult us whatever) in that three-year period, does that seem reasonable at WotC's output? I mean I feel it is. That would mean another $180, which makes Beyond 50% more expensive, give or take, in real terms.Then there's the weird player subscription deal, which seems unnecessary except maybe they have to pay to have access to the items and spells and stuff you homebrew?
