Great articles, thanks @Echohawk! My question for you is what about Cast of Fate? It probably wouldn't go into the collector's collection, being dragon dice, but is a novel they printed. (I'm one of the seven people who bought Dragon Dice. And Spellfire and Blood Wars ccgs.) I had a few endless quest books. I read the first two Dragonlance trilogies by W&H. I found the rest of the DL books hit and miss in quality for myself. I trailed off on them. I think the only FR books I didn't read were the Moonshae books and the Avatar Trilogy. (I eventually read the comic adaptations of the Avatar Trilogy.) I did read Prince of Lies and Crucible. (I never liked Cyric, in any way, and go without him in my pantheon, returning it to grey box.) I read most of the other FR books until around 2011? I didn't like the novels during the 4E time. I'm not sure why. I also was done with Driz'zt before then. I'm a fan of FR but not Greenwood's fiction books, except Cormyr. I read one or two of Elminster but it was too much for me. My favorite authors are Cunningham, Denning, and Kemp. I read most of the Dark Sun novels. I think they said that they should have had the box set start after the events of the Prism Pentad, or at least after book one, so that there was a free city for use. While I read them, I don't like Hawke's novels, Tribe of One. The others were hit and miss. (Dark Sun itself is hit and miss for me. I was never sure how it was supposed to be run. Survival? Free the cities? Fantasy Mad Max wondering the desert? I do think it's too bad they haven't done 5E Dark Sun only because I think some of the modern classes, most notably warlock for Templar, fit well.) I didn't read any of the other fiction lines. I got sucked into FR big time in the 90s and 00s. Thanks for the article and trip down memory lane!
