It was a self-own, but WotC went about as far as could be reasonably hoped to apologize and course correct. Putting 5e into the Creative Commons was much stronger than I expected, so we finished with a better result than if they had just left it in the SRD and there had never been a fiasco.In terms of personal interactions with WotC, they actively support D&D in education with numerous freebies designed to give students access to the game, and that's why all of my kids have access to everything they need to start their own campaigns, which is crucial for what I am doing.
