How much for Assay Spell Resistance item?

Player want sto get an idea how much a slotted item that gives you constant Assay Spell Resistance (+10 SR checks) would cost to craft....


Any suggestions? I told him it was going to be insane since he bascially wants an item that gives +10 to overcome SR checks.

Wouldn't it have to be charged or something, as the spell effectively has to be re-cast everytime he selects a new target?

Otherwise, just make a magic item that grants +10 caster level (which would be really expensive) or decide what it'd take to make a spell that does something like 9th level fireball at will and apply that.

By the rules, a continuous item of a 4th level spell with a duration in Rounds would be ...

Insanely expensive.

That's for a Helm of Assay Resistance (Bob The Pit Fiend). It would only work on ONE creature, ever, at all. That's the function of the spell.

He'd need something that casts the spell x/day so he could retarget. But I'd only give him the rules for the one he wants so he realizes how much of a jerk item that is to ask for.

It would be an interesting item for a quest, though... going up against a BBEG with high SR, gotta go out and find a helm of spell resistance (John, The Evil Superlich).

I would go with the 200k version as stated above, but let it function on any monster. Not all items that mimic a spell do it word-for-word. When you walk up walls with slippers of spider climb, you don't need to have your hands free, right? Use your best judgement and compare it to every item you can find with similar powers to get a feel for what something that powerful should cost. The ioun stone that increases caster level by +1 is 30,000 gold. I know what you are asking for is only applied to overcoming SR but still, it's +10 caster levels! LOL

200k+ is the minimum I'd charge him/her.

By default, liches don't have SR. It's stupid, I know.

This is the simple truth of the matter. If you do allow it though, it should be stupidly expensive though.
