Quite a Pickle Its certainly a difficult thing to become a god. The closest I would allow for a campaign (even an epic one) would be Divine Rank 0 (quasi-deity) and Divine Rank 1 (demigod). D&D actually suggests that after ascending to DR 0, the character become retired as it takes on more responsibilities and such, but clearly in your game they would continue to adventure with the epic-level group. Your suggestion is very good, a 20 level prc that doles out the benefits of DR 1 slowly, while giving 20 outsider HD which almost all deities have. Of course, there is a deity with only 20 HD, and they are expert HD in the D&D guide, Imhotep. Earlier in the book he is compared to being not much harder than a 20th level character (I assume they were comparing to a PC class). Im not sure if he is built correctly (whether or not he needs the outsider HD to be a DR 1 god) but his powers seem too good for a PC in the 20-30 range. Personally, it seems that bestowing DR 0 as a template of some kind might be the best fix. The gaining of that template would "burn" a certain amount of experience, so hopefully the character in question would remain on par with other PCs. Also it would probably have an ECL boost associated with it, slowing down their progress into higher levels. I think the prc works...but I don't like it merely because most other gods don't have 20 Ascendant levels. Of course, it begs the question, "how did they get 20 outsider HD?". Technik
