How to Make Casters/Spell Guns in D20

Anyone who has seen Outlaw Star should know what I'm talking about, but to those who haven't a Caster is a magical weapon that is a mix of gun and a wand.

You load a caster-shell, which hold a single casting of an attack spell, and fire it like a normal bullet.

The type of spell cast depends on the type of shell used. In the series they are numbered. 20 shells, 20 effects.

Anyone have a clue on how to model this and charge for creation?

There was a long discussion on the DragonStar Yahoo group about Caster Guns at the end of 2001/beginning of 2002. It's still in the message archive, but you need to be a group member to see it. Just search for "Caster Guns" to find the posts.

The grenade and grenade launchers should provide rules for what you are trying to recreate.
