How to Train Your Dragon

Almost saw this one tonight, but we decided to go to dinner instead (didn't have a ton of time) - but it looks like we will need to get in there and see it for sure.

Thanks ;)

That's a jump from the $15 I paid for the 3D IMAX Alice in Wonderland (and the same for Avatar, IIRC). I had planned on going but I think I will draw the line, though I bet there will be many who go thinking the regular price is in place then pay anyway since they are already there. The backlash on the Intrawebs should be a hoot. Let's try to get links here to the biggest dustups.
It is worth the $5 jump - just for not being Alice. (In other words - I rather liked Dragon, and was bitterly disappointed by Alice in Wonderland.) The 3D was not thrown in your face - with one (fairly worthwhile) exception. Dreamworks seems to have a much better grasp on 3D than Disney, though I do want to see how Pixar does with it.

I am ashamed to admit that part of the reason I went to see Dragon was I put off seeing Monsters vs Aliens. I finally got to see it, and was very sorry that I had not gone to the theater to see it. :( I did not enjoy Dragon as much, but I definitely did not feel that I had been robbed.

One oddity - even though the trailer for Tron 2 had been out for a month, people still stood up and cheered when Bridges made his appearance on screen.

They did very well with it on Up. Added a real scope to the vistas without being obtrusive.

Honestly, I have yet to see a live action sequence in 3D that I can endorse with no reservations, and 2D-to-3D conversions are a terrible joke on the human eye and common decency. But straight-up pure computer animation.... I've seen it used very well for the most part.
