How to use Compendium at Work?

First Post
I have no problems login into DDI at work, I just use HTTPS instead of HTTP and it's done.

On the other hand, when I'm logged and try to use Compendium the page is blocked.

Any of you guys know any trick to avoid this? :)

It probably has nothing to do with the Compendium and everything to do with the permissions set by your network admin.

I'm aware of that, I'm trying surpass that permitions the same way I use HTTPS to accesse the otherwise banned Wotc website :p

Being the guy who does the website blocking for my company, I'm not too keen on helping people bypass legit web filters. What I'd suggest is finding out who is in charge of it and talking to them. In my book, looking at that is no different than spending time adjusting your fantasy football team on ESPN.com or managing your NCAA pool, so I allow it. Then again, I'm biased. :)

A lot of these filters have options for what hours things are blocked. Perhaps asking that the site not be blocked for lunchtime and after hours is an option as well. I know ours can be setup that way.

Right. It all depends on the type of filtering being used. Websense, an application level filter, is very customizable. If they are using lower level filters then it becomes more cumbersome for them to make changes and you are less likely to get it done.

It helps that most of this sort of thing is managed by the IT department, which often has a far greater number of geeks than you'd find in the normal population. Hopefully someone is sympathetic to your requests.

Well, that 'fix' only works if a specific site URL is blocked (one with a HTTP suffix, rather than an HTTPS suffix). In this case, you're not really circumventing a restriction, you're just navigating to a URL that isn't blocked (probably an oversight). If certain types of scripts or applications are blocked you can't simply change a URL suffix to run them.

Nobody here can tell you the specifics about what your network admin has blocked or how they have blocked it. There are literally dozens of possible variables. Also, I thought it should go without saying, but I'm not sure posting a message that amounts to "Help me foil security measures on a business computer!" on a public message board is a very wise idea.

Do you know if any of your co-workers post here? You might be (unpleasantly) surprised.
