We played through two short adventures again in today's "Down to Erthe" campaign. In the first, the PCs:

Had a feeling they were being watched (because they were being scried upon by the Lord back in the snow fox hengeyokai wu jen PC's homeland who seeks to add her to his pool of concubines)
Were assigned an 8-hour block of time serving in a food kitchen, one of the many "good PR" establishments run by the thieves guild two of the PCs work for
Saw a korobokuru walk in after the lunch rush, lock eyes with the hengeyokai, and walk back out again
Were warned by the hengeyokai (who ducked behind the counter where they'd been serving food) that was probably a bounty hunter looking for her, so they cold prepare for imminent battle
Watched as a spirit folk monk, four korobokuru barbarians, and a spirit folk expert (dogcatcher) walked into the food kitchen and ordered the clients to leave for their own safety, as they were there to "capture a dangerous animal" (and the humans and mongrelfolk eating there vamoosed pretty quickly)
Noticed the dogcatcher carried a metal cage sized for a fox
Began combat when the human scout PC attacked the monk when he approached the corner where the hengeyokai had been spotted
Had the hengeyokai pop up from elsewhere behind the counter and cast a hail of stone spell that got all four korobokuru, then watched as they basically performed "now you did it - I'm mad" professional wrestling moves, raced at the counter, and had the two in the lead flip the other two up onto the counter, where they could attack the PCs with their Small lajatangs (think quarterstaffs with a Klingon bat'leth on each end)
Got in a cramped fight with the spirit folk monk at one corner behind the counter, one korobokuru attacking from the other side behind the counter, and three korobokuru standing on the counter attacking the PCs, who were all cramped up in the middle behind the counter
Took out the three korobokuru on the counter fairly quickly, and watched as the dogcatcher calmly approached, set his cage on a table, opened it, and got out a weighted net
Had the scout PC going one-on-one with the monk, while the hengeyokai PC made a run for it and the others went for the sole remaining korobokuru and the dogcatcher, who successfully caught the hengeyoki in his net
Were surprised when the dogcatcher was the last foe standing, but took him out before he could threaten the hengeyokai's life (the Lord wanted her taken alive, but the dogcatcher was willing to threaten her life if it would buy him his safety)
Took out the dogcatcher with a crossbow bolt from the changeling rogue PC
Figured out the enemy Lord must have had his shugenja cast a scry spell to determine the hengeyokai's whereabouts, then had a sorcerer cast a sending spell to the monk - a bounty hunter - the Lord knew was in the same city to go take her captive until he could send a team from his island country to go fetch her
Are now worried about what the Lord's next step will be, but are somewhat mollified that the hengeyokai's homeland is over a month away by boat
Johnathan
