Message: <blockquote data-quote="Richards" data-source="post: 9821221" data-attributes="member: 508">In tonight's "Middle of Elsewhere" campaign, the PCs:<ul> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Encountered a dying taskmaster formian, who had ripped out the crystals growing at the base of his skull, and informed us<ul> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">The formian nest to which he belonged had experimented with these psionic-enhancing crystals as a way to expand the range of their hivemind</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Only later realized there was a malevolent entity hiding inside the crystals that took over the formian nest as its own</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">The location of the nest we were seeking (it was 3 hours away), its basic layout, and how it was guarded (2 warriors, 4 workers outside the nest, 5 workers inside the nest)</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Four of the kidnapped people from Elsewhere we were trying to rescue had been taken to that particular nest</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">A humanoid figure had aided the malevolent psionic entity on the condition they took the mayor of Elsewhere as one of their kidnap victims; we suspect it's the wizard from Elsewhere several thousand years ago (we also suspect he's spent the majority of that time in the timeless realm of the Astral Plane)</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">The psionic entity wanted to eventually "convert" all of Elsewhere so it could expand its reach across the multiverse</li> </ul></li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Agreed to "save the eggs" (his dying mental wish)</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Buffed up with combat spells before attacking the nest, which was 3 hours of travel away</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Killed the outer guards with some creative spell usage (the celestial elf witch PC cast enlarge person on our fiendish orc fighter PC, who was already a killing machine only now even more so; my fiendish human cleric got to use summon monster III to bring forth a Huge fiendish centipede - say hello, Skitterfiend!), finding out in the process the warriors were psychic warriors and the drones had psion levels</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Went inside the nest and fought the five psion drones, with the shadow druid summoning a shadow lion and a shadow dire wolf to help take them down</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Rescued three of the four kidnapped Elsewhere denizens, but the mayor had already been slain</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Removed the crystals from the base of their skulls (they hadn't yet fully bonded) and healed them up</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Got ready to bring the survivors back to Elsewhere (our next adventure session), and brought the dead mayor and the unhatched formian eggs with us (looks like Elsewhere will be getting a worker drone task force, once the eggs hatch)</li> </ul>And we're close enough to 6th level that one more adventure session will put us over the edge, but that won't be until 14 Jan 26.  (We're done gaming for this year!)Johnathan</blockquote>
