In today's "Down to Erthe" campaign session, the PCs:

Were hired by the Adventurer's Guild to procure a living basilisk, which the wizard commissioning the quest wanted turned into a snail via a baleful polymorph spell (he provided two such spells on scrolls, which the wu jen PC could use)
Found out a basilisk had been spotted hunting in an area about three day's travel by foot north of the city, in the foothills/low mountains
Purchased three light horses and some camping supplies for those who needed them (they've been almost exclusively in city-based adventures) and headed north, running afoul of a giant praying mantis on the second day of travel, after which they tracked down the basilisk to its lair: a cave in the side of a rocky cliff
Distracted the basilisk with an unseen servant floating the petrified body of a bat (a former victim of the basilisk's petrifying gaze), allowing the wu jen to get close enough to use the first of the two scrolls provided
Placed the snail in a jar with air holes in the lid, then explored the back of the cave it was using as a lair, since it had 8 columns leading to stone steps going down to a lower level carved out of the solid stone
Discovered a hidden shrine to the God of Betrayal, including a 20-foot-tall statue of the god, behind which a secret door led to another set of short stairs leading down to 10 cells, in which the rotting remains of abandoned prisoners sat (two were animated as skeletons, one as a zombie)
Also noted 18 jermlaine, 6 barrow rats, and 2 osquips hiding beneath the benches in the cells (they were all small enough to fit between the bars of the cells), went "Nope!" and closed the secret door back up
Crawled single file through a low tunnel nearby they'd discrovered earlier (and ignored, since it was too small for a basilisk to crawl through), and ended up facing three violet fungi, eight shriekers, and a giant fire beetle (all of which were easily dispatched)
Explored a pool of water in the cavern beyond, which led to an underwater passageway, which led to an underwater stream, at the edge of which was an archer frog they fought, killed, and dragged with them through a door leading to the jermlaine and their rodent allies
Provided the jermlaine with the dead frog as "tribute" and explored the dungeon areas further, finding a bit of treasure and avoiding an encounter with a Medium web-spinning monstrous spider
Headed back home to the city
And then the PCs all leveled up to 4th level.
