How we almost lost Veronica Mars...(and May 3rds Episode)

BrooklynKnight

First Post
Apparently Veronica Mars wasn't originally due for renewal due to poor ratings. Despite incredible reviews in magazines and a huge net following. But thanks to the power of internet fans, UPN and Warner Brothers renewed Ms. Mars for Season 2.

Details about the entire situation can be found at http://www.saveveronicamars.com/ and http://www.marsinvestigations.net/

There was also a huge autograph signing with Kristen Bell and the other Actors at a Macy's in Manhattan recently. (I wish i had known, I'd have been there).

Too bad we didnt know about this sooner, we coulda lent our voices too!

As for tonights episode, wow. This episode alone ties up nearly all the loose ends and stories that have been growing all this season. All thats really left is for the true killer to be unmasked next week!

I'm nopt suprised it almost got canceled. I'm amazed at times that people actually listen to the internet as much as tyhey do, the loud minority always has too much power.

I participated in the votes and was following this closely. I didn't bring it up here mostly because of the jinx-factor with Farscape & Firefly. ;)

The Rape Ep: Good stuff, as I knew it would be. Not that I saw the ending coming but I was always a little skeptical of the rape in general and thought that there had to be a better explaination. I just couldn't put 2 and 2 together. Well done by the writing staff!

And this ep looks like it will really set up the finale next week very well. Those preview screens really got my juices pumping. We have all the players on the field now: the Kane's, Weidman, Ma & Pa Mars, Weevil, the Echols, the sheriff and a host of others. Gonna be fuuuuuuun...

It's a really slick mystery show -- Tuesdays at 8pm central time on UPN.

Says the fella with 30,000 posts and nigh-on 200 reviews.

And I'm nopt surprised it almost got cancelled, either, but I'm glad tyhey decided to bring it back. At least critically, it's a good move for UPN to hold onto one of the two shows that generated a lot of "Wow, UPN isn't the absolute bottom of the barrel" buzz from critics. Even if it doesn't become a ratings contender, it lets the critics know that they're trying.

(The other new show was, or possibly still is, a legal drama starring Taye Diggs called Kevin Hill, which I watch because I'm married and have a new baby, and it's only fair to let my wife pick out something on the DVR. Because it airs opposite Alias in the states, I'd be surprised if anyone here had heard of it. )

Veronica Mars is one part detective show and one part politics of high-school, much like the first three seasons of Buffy were one part vampire slaying and one part politics of high-school. It has good intelligent writing written by people who seem to be aware of a lot of good pop culture (in much the same way Buffy was -- hence, many comparisons to Buffy on the net). It isn't how people in high school actually talked or acted -- even the jocks are far too well-spoken -- but it's incredibly fun most of the time.

Everyone is far too glib to be real -- much like Gilmore Girls or West Wing -- but that doesn't keep it from being highly entertaining. :) I'm with ya.

I expceted it, but then I didn't see the first half of the pilot until halfway through the season
and by then had seen Duncan stick up for Veronica a number of times and figured he had done the same thing back then. Of course what I didn't expect if how things really happened
