How much are these inspections costing? Usually the reason things weren't inspected is that it costs more to inspect than revenue gained. Especially when the inspection slows down processing so that ports get backed up. Americans pay for the tariffs, and beyond the upfront dollar costs, there are the ancillary costs mentioned, as well as follow on costs such as it is Americans who are selling, and transporting these goods inside the US, those jobs are on the line. It is doubtful the industry is coming back in any meaningful way, it is sort of sadly humorous to hear of a startup by non-manufacturers. Ultimately all these companies are multi-nationals, where the US has heavily invested in China, so that the back-blast from this again hurts American businesses. China's main interest is to not see the world economy damaged, their trade with us is somewhere less than 3%, so even drawing it down doesn't hurt them as much as a major economic downturn worldwide.</p></blockquote><p></p>
