D&D 5E How would you homebrew Nelwyn?

They're the small people from Willow. In fact, Willow is a Nelwyn.
In the movie they are in small hovels.
In the series they are barely underground, hiding under the ruins of their village.

They seem halfling-ish, rather than gnome. But they don't seem lightfoot, at all. There's no hearty-ness of the stout. The One D&D version may be best, or possibly there's a trait I'm missing.

Huh. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie, but I seem to remember the majority of the content involving Nelwyn revolving around magic.
