Toras - 1) they know the location as far as depthis concerned from previous "visions" caused by the spellfire link oce PC and the children have. They know it is in the lower chambers of the Mountain. The BBEG only needs the spellfire for the cermonies so instant acess is seldom needed. His power base from reports is a mixture of humans/humaniods/demons/devils. It is known/suspected that the players have carved a fair nitch out of their "manpower", at least the ones that can fight. Some damage has been done to their information gathering ability and none to their support capability. 2) The villians sanctum is unkonw at this time. Though some recent information imparted to one player this week may give them someidea (don't wnat to spoil the players fun of revealing it themselves) 3) I think at the time they plan to start the ceremony and seal off any passages directly to the Gate and accept their isn't much they can do about air borne attacks. Accept fight them. 4) some nasty useful ideas. 5) they don't know how to make gunpowder but there are plenty of fantasy equivalents. 6) that may yet happen. 7) hopefully they will keep that in mind. 8 or so) they thought about blocking the area outside but are afraid due to the delicate and experimental nature of the ceremony that any anti-magic/walls of force may disrupt the procedures. PS : one of the Pc's now knows who the BBEg is and waht his name is. Once he reveals this more about the organizations motives will be become clear. Whiskers 1) Minions so far are Demons/Devils/Human/Humaniods 2) They actually have a safe place even more difficult to get into than the Volcano fortress. I try not to be unfear in what the players have access to. 3) It requires at least one PC and several others that don't have to be PC's but it is an issue of who they trust to teach the ceremony. So far they have been betrayed a few times and are careful of others but not to an unhealthparanoid level. No reason that he players no of that the BBEG will know when the ceremony starts but the ceremony takes place on his front porch, so to speak. They idea of faking the ceremony still leaves them with the fact that what if he doesn't detect it for a while then they wasted 2 hours (ceremony length) that could have been spent closing the gate. Also spliting forces may or may not be wise. they don't know the level of opposition yet. An ambush works fine if they can defeat the BBEG what if they can't then the jig is up with no chance of surprise wheich t hey have now, or so they think. 4) the children may have to be sacrificed for the greater good. Some characters accept this others do not. But a point made by oneplayer is that without the children the BBEG is shut down. While he hunst for the children may be the distraction needed to perfrom the ceremony. Since they won't need the gate until they recover the kids. thanks again for the ideas. the players appreciate as well I'm sure. later
