Hi there, I helped write the adventure and I don't mind giving some spoilers, here is some info: Huma Before the Lance: The Dark Patrol gives players the opportunity to journey into a part of Krynn’s history that is mostly unwritten. The Age of Dreams offers a much different gaming experience for Dragonlance as the continent is still whole, the gods are openly worshiped without doubt, and magic is more commonplace and accepted. This adventure will thrust a group of heroes into the service of the Solamnic army, walking in the same footsteps of the legendary Sir Huma Dragonbane. This adventure largely centers around the threatened town of Eldor’s Ridge, near the war’s frontlines; prior to Huma and Heart’s great sacrifice which banished Takhisis to the Abyss. Here is the synopsis to part 1 of the adventure: Part 1 of this adventure covers assembling at the fort that protects the southern edge of Solamnia’s agricultural heartland, Castle uth Sranik. The fort is a staging ground for forces deploying to the front. Its main mission is to protect the remaining farms and ranches, not destroyed during the war, that provide food for the Solamnic armies. Players may choose one of several Adventure Paths shown later in this chapter to organize how they serve during the war, or what’s brought them to Castle uth Sranik and into danger. There are also options for those not wishing to enlist with the army, and potentially serving with mercenaries. Consider speaking with your players before-hand, or running a Session 0 to understand their motivations, and how they can be organized. Once the players choose an Adventure Path, they’ll meet leaders or those delegated in charge, and receive orders to depart for the Hope’s End outpost in three day’s time. While at Castle uth Sranik, the players will meet several NPCs and trigger plot events that will set the tone and create challenges for their upcoming journey. The events are optional, and aren’t necessary to the main plot, but serve as a way for the players to become more comfortable and knowledgeable with the current state of Solamnia and the war with the Dark Queen and her forces. After the events at Castle uth Sranik, the supply caravan will depart for Hope’s End. There may be a number of plot points that can carry over into the next chapter, with instructions on how to handle them should the DM wish to further those storylines. Travel to the front will take three days. On day 2, a large encounter will take place with the enemy, demonstrating the scope of such a long, brutal war. There are also optional, daily random encounters to add, should the DM wish to further challenge the players. At the end of Part 1, the players advance to 2nd level.
